College football is entering its fourth week of the 2025 NCAAF season, and several teams are on the move with odds trending upwards in their favor. So far, the season has proven to be unpredictable with numerous upsets that have shaken up the future odds.
Several teams that were considered long shots during the offseason have improved their odds with early-season wins. Below, we will discuss betting on college football, three teams that are on the rise, and why you should lock in early futures now before the odds lose value.
Ohio State University (OSU)
The Buckeyes are off to a dominant 3–0 start and currently sit atop the rankings at No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches Polls. After winning the national championship in 2024, Ohio State appears poised to defend its title under head coach Ryan Day in his seventh season.
Ohio State has already upset the former number one team in the nation, defeating Texas 14-7 in week one. However, they will have to beat Penn State, currently ranked #2, and Michigan if they want to win the Big Ten.
National Championship Game Winner*
- Ohio State (#1)+550
Big Ten Conference Championship Game Winner*
- Ohio State (#1) +210
- Penn State (#2) +250
- Oregon (#6) +260
Louisiana State University (LSU)
LSU is also off to a blazing 3–0 start in the 2025 college football season, currently ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll. Under head coach Brian Kelly in his fourth year, the Tigers have demonstrated dominance on both sides of the ball, but they have a long road ahead.
LSU currently has two big wins this season, but skeptics will point out that Clemson (week 1) and Florida (week 3) both have two losses now. The team also has some heavy hitters later in the season, including Alabama, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma, making these futures risky to say the least.
National Championship Game Winner*
- LSU (#3) +900
SEC Championship Game Winner*
- Georgia (#5) +250
- Texas (#8) +300
- LSU (#3) +475
Florida State University (FSU)
Florida State is off to a 2–0 start in the 2025 college football season and is currently ranked No. 7 in the AP Poll after beating Alabama in week one. After a disastrous 2024 campaign, the Seminoles have flipped the script under head coach Mike Norvell (6th season) and new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.
The Seminoles will still have to face Miami (Oct. 18), which is favored to win the ACC, but can solidify a playoff berth if they can defeat their remaining ACC rivals.
National Championship Game Winner*
- FSU (#3) +4500
ACC Championship Game Winner*
- Miami, Florida (#4) +175
- Georgia Tech (#18) +325
- Florida State (#7) +550
Locking In College Football Future Bets
Football futures offer great value if you lock them in early, and if you’re eyeing a team like LSU, FSU, or Ohio State, locking in now could be the difference between a solid win and a monster payout. Betting odds are constantly changing, and as the clear powerhouse teams start to emerge, the odds will trend towards the negative.
The one drawback about futures is that your money is locked in till the end of the season. We suggest setting limits and making multiple small wagers on future odds. You can also shop the lines at all the online sportsbooks we review to find the most favorable future odds for your preferred team.
