How 18-Year-Old Players Bet On Super Bowl LIV

Super Bowl Footballs

Super Bowl 54 is going to be one of the most significant sporting events for US bettors in 2020. With the recent legalization of domestic sportsbooks in 12 states and passed legislation in another 6, sports betting is becoming more popular than ever.

18-year-old players are often left in the dark due to state laws that set a minimum gambling age of 21. However, other options do exist, and there are some states that allow 18+ players

Super Bowl LIV is set to take place in Miami on Sunday, February 2, 2020. Online sportsbooks currently have odds for the Super Bowl, but the playoffs have yet to been played.

The Bovada sportsbook already has future odds for the Super Bowl even though the matchup is not set. The Ravens are the current favorites at (+210). That is no surprise considering what Ravens QB Lamar Jackson has been doing on the field. Coming in second is the New Orleans Saints (+550). Last week Saints QB Drew Brees broke the record for NFL career touchdowns, and the team has already clinched their division.

One of the biggest surprises is that the New England Patriots are sitting at (+600) and that most people are betting that the Patriots will get knocked out of the Divisional Championship if the Ravens advance to that game. The Ravens beat the Patriots during the regular season 37-20 in a match that seemed one-sided after the first quarter.

Currently, only Rhode Island offers domestic sports betting to players over the age of 18, looking to bet on the Super Bowl. Tennessee and Montana have both passed sports betting laws that include 18+ players but have not launched their state services yet.

Online sportsbooks operating offshore are allowed to offer their services to 18-year-old players and comply with US gambling laws. Only two states forbid offshore gambling sites according to their state gambling laws: Connecticut and Washington. Players located in the other 47 states (excluding New Jersey) are legally allowed to join an offshore sports betting site.

Offshore betting sites have been servicing the United States since the early 2000s and are preferred by many professional bettors for their convenience, higher betting limits, and because they usually offer more betting lines on more sporting events. Betting on the NFL with offshore sportsbooks is just easier in most cases than betting at domestic sportsbooks, but we suggest shopping the lines and betting where you feel comfortable.

Below are the current odds provided by Bovada for Super Bowl LIV going into week 16.
